The Tale of the Ties in the Desert

A man walks desperately through the desert. The sun above his head and the vultures around him announce an imminent end.
- Water! -Shouts-. Water! Some water!
From the right he sees a Bedouin coming on a camel heading towards him.
- Thanks god! Water please… water!
– I cannot give you water –says the Bedouin- I am a merchant and water is necessary to travel through the desert.
“Sell me water,” begs the man. I'll pay you…
– Impossible, I don't sell water, I sell ties...
– Ties??? Ties in the desert?
- No water -answers the merchant-, but I have to offer you the best ties in Arabia...
– Ties!!! I don't want ties! I want water! The desperate man yells.
- We're having a sale. If you buy ten ties, you get one free.
– I don't want ties!!!
– You can in three payments without interest. Do you have a credit card?
Screaming in rage, the thirsty man continues on his way to nowhere. A few hours later, already dragging himself, the traveler climbs a very high dune and from there he sees the horizon.
You can't believe your eyes. A thousand meters ahead, he sees an oasis. Palm trees and incredible greenery surround the blue reflection of the water. The man runs towards the place fearing that it is a mirage. But no, the oasis is real. The place is protected by a fence and has only one access guarded by a guard.
– Please let me in. I need water… water. Please…
– Impossible, sir. It is forbidden to enter without a tie.
How many opportunities that life offers us do we let go because we close ourselves or do not believe we deserve them?
