There are several definitions of ego. One is the excessive appreciation that a person feels for himself. Another, the one that we develop in this note, is that of the psychic instance that is recognized as "I".
The ego it is an entity that it builds itself at an unconscious level throughout life through the acquisition of knowledge, beliefs, habits and experiences. The lack of awareness makes one think that one is what one has been doing and experiencing.
Realizing the existence of the ego, the mental and emotional "I" not created from within, but imposed by the environment, is a first step in becoming aware and awakening what remains dormant.
By disassociating an observing self from how the ego works, it is possible to direct the gaze to something else. Until then you could be more or less healthy, centered, balanced or happy, but conscience, that something else. It is the presence that had not yet arrived of what one truly is. And it comes when the mind connects with its spiritual source and only then can the subject choose for himself.
Learn to be. It is the key principle of the 4 A's of education. Meanwhile, the Ego uses the remaining 3 A's: learning to do, learning to learn and learning to live together. Learning to be is a hard learning that very few finish, because the educational system does not give priority to self-knowledge and privileges information.
This generates personality pathologies such as not knowing what I want or what I am. This implies creating an ego other than the real one. That false belief, what you think you are, will prevent you from empowering what you could become. The subject identifies with the ego that is a fragment of himself and is unaware of the dependency to which he submits, until one fine day he wakes up and tries to live freely.
The ego is the means used by intelligence to achieve its goals in an educational system and in a social environment where imperfection reigns. The risk is not discovering the inner genius and being tied to functional roles far from the spiritual center. In a society like this nobody is happy with what they do. The test of emotional intelligence consists of the joy or apathy with which each day is faced
You cannot operate without an identity. The creator of the ego is the mind. When the conscience does not govern it, the ego fragments. The mind is directed from the outside by a consumer society that always offers something new and generates the fear of losing it. This lowers the energy and lacks peace and happiness in the present.
A body without a mind would be a vegetable without the ability to feel, think or act. A mind without awareness produces a fragile ego.
Learning always occurs in social contexts, but learning to be is possible only when you get to the origin of what you experience, that which emotions are responsible for manifesting. When the mind is aligned with the conscience, it optimizes its capacities of choice.
Take charge. The mind that does not drink from its spiritual source lacks signals to guide action, the ego wanders and the emotions are not part of the spirit. Dissociated from being, successes are fleeting and traumas are internalized. On the other hand, anchored to the spirit, they provide the sensation of unity, love, integration and peace.
The mind is software that provides creative freedom but can malfunction and cause a divided ego, when the program is infected by viruses that swarm in the context. A prison is made without being noticed because something different has never been experienced.
