In his book Man's Search for Meaning, Victor Frank recounts his imprisonment in Nazi concentration camps. During the five years he was imprisoned, he dedicated himself to analyzing the way his companions in misfortune thought. He says that they were woken up at five in the morning with a whistle; they had to immediately jump out of their beds and put on their shoes to walk the snowy roads, heading to where the railroad tracks were being built. But sometimes the shoes got really wet from the snow from the day before and when they were taken off they shrank; the next day, with swollen feet, they couldn't put them on. If they couldn't, they walked barefoot. That is why the vast majority slept with their shoes on.

As payment for their tremendous effort, they were given two cigarettes on the weekend, which they exchanged with the foremen for another bowl of soup or a piece of bread. Ç
But when I saw that a person started smoking their own cigarettes, that meant that they had already lost the meaning of life; he had already decided to wait for death.
Of course you do not need to be in a concentration camp to lose the meaning of life and limit yourself to waiting for death.

No, that will happen the moment you start smoking your cigarettes, the moment you say, "I'm not interested"; “I don't care about getting fat, or “My work doesn't motivate me”. If you start doing things halfway, you will start to deteriorate, and that represents a destructive whirlwind: you will drink, eat or smoke excessively; for watching too much television to escape the events and avoid the confrontation and the road. They enjoy science fiction movies very much because in them they can live the lives of fictional heroes and other people, avoiding their reality.

It is then that those who have lost the meaning of life do not know exactly what they want to do; they feel lost; they think they are getting old too fast.

In the case of young people, even a good number of them are invaded by confusion in the middle of their career and do not finish it.

Whatever your age, this could be the first day of your new life if you just put your mind to it, if you just decide to make this change right now.
