Sixth part of “The Method of Fulfilled Wishes” (Article 1)

What do I choose to do and when will I do it?
open up to the new
One of the principles of the ancient art of Feng-Shui is: if you want something new to come into your life, you must first make room for it, clear the way for it. Overwhelming.
Less is more. Which means: less of what you don't want is more of what you want. In other words, letting go of what no longer "speaks" to the heart is the masterpiece of coherence.
Unfortunately, in the West there is not a culture of detachment but of accumulation.
Even from the accumulation of what no longer serves.
I apply Feng-Shui to writing: fewer words, more meaning.
Opening yourself to the new implies disassociation from the old. It may seem like a loss but it is momentary. A full hand cannot receive anything new in its palm. If you want something new in your life (be it a relationship, a job, financial independence, a new lifestyle, or whatever) you must first make room for it.
Intention can only focus on one thing at a time and as long as it is fixed in the absence of the desired it is literally impossible to manifest its presence. This can apply to all aspects of our life.
Feng-Shui teaches you to create a state, both inside and outside, of openness to all possibilities. Renovating is a task that needs to be done regularly. It consists of letting go of anyone who no longer speaks to the heart. That includes both beliefs, habits, material possessions, emotions, relationships and friendships.
Less of what you don't want means more time and energy available for what you do want. Two examples. One: When you don't have to go to work to earn money, you get time and energy to think about how to get rich. Two: When you give up an unsatisfactory relationship, you gain the freedom and energy to attract a more satisfying relationship.
Take a course (or two) in Feng Shui; and if you apply it, I guarantee major changes in less than three weeks.
Prepare for success
In life you have to prepare yourself to achieve anything.
Dr. Lair Ribeiro, author of various best sellers, often states that success is the combination of preparation and opportunity.
Analogy: preparation is sharpening the axe, opportunity is the tree. A. Lincoln said that if he had eight hours to chop down a tree, he would spend six sharpening the axe. I myself spend no less than half a day preparing myself, for half my life.
But let's see some guidelines focused on "sharpening the ax":
Continuous improvement program
The first thing is to integrate learning into your life to be at the forefront of your field. Your commitment should not only be established with the results, but with your continuous improvement.
Of course, you will not be able to keep up with absolutely everything that happens in your activity or sector. But this does not prevent you from not stopping learning for a single day of your life. How much time of your day is for learning?
The reading
If you read a minimum of one book per week, I assure you that in five years you will be a true expert in your favorite subject. Today, the information you seek is out there somewhere. An hour a day will be enough for you to belong to the ten percent of reference in your sector.
The difference between people who read and those who don't read is the same as there is between riding a bicycle or on a plane. If you're going to say you don't have that hour to yourself, then you're in trouble. And the fat ones.
May-Day May-Day!
I have been reading self-improvement books intensively for more than 35 years, in which I have invested thousands and thousands of pesos. Every month I read at least one full book and one summary. Sometimes more. For me to stop learning is to start dying. My greatest wealth is knowledge; and the worst poverty, ignorance.
There is a great reward in reading and that is that it expands in thought. When, through reading, you share the thought with an author, yours catches up with his. Books with the bulk of my budget and also my favorite gift. I would love to receive your recommendation by email. The book that has influenced you the most!
Although establishing this intensive reading habit may seem like an unattainable goal, I assure you that if you invest in reading time, you will be ahead of your time. Soon, you will get used to even holding multiple readings at once. The next thing that will happen is that you will no longer go anywhere without taking a book with you.
The courses
Do you have a monthly budget? If not, allocate an annual figure for that purpose. By regularly participating in good seminars and courses, you will learn first-hand from those who are up-to-date and experts in their field. Today we have access to trained and expert people in any field. Do we take advantage of that privilege?
Take a course, or two, or three, in business and financial skills. We all sell and we all manage money, it is inevitable; and yet we have never been trained in these competitions. It is the best investment I have made in my life: learning from anyone who has something to teach me.
An example of two very different people: the first person spends a few hundred pesos on some brand new shoes that have lost all their value and will end up in the trash in a year. The second person invests those hundreds of pesos in a good seminar (on communication, sales, personal marketing or on investment and personal finances); With what he has learned, he generates an exponential figure that he reinvests, and with a small part of what he has earned, he has the luxury of buying those same shoes, or more expensive ones!
A simple weekend seminar for personal development can mark a before and after.

Conferences
Attend meetings and conferences. They will provide you with resources, contacts with people with common interests. Good speakers are generators of enthusiasm. You can ask the speaker about their own experiences, including asking them to share their sources and references with you. Surely you will be delighted, because everyone likes to talk about what they know well.
referents
Learn excellence from those who demonstrate it. Find your references in your field of interest. Think of three people you admire. It does not matter if they are real or fictitious and write down the three qualities that you most admire in them. Developing in you the new qualities is the mission of your soul; and your project, the vehicle to achieve it.
The practice
Finally, if you combine everything you have learned with experience, you will transmute information into knowledge. The difference between an informed person and an experienced person is abysmal. His presence conveys a completely different kind of energy. Wise is not the one who knows everything, but the one who knows very well how little he knows. Practice, practice, practice...
The conclusion
Read books published in your country and if you can abroad (this way you will practice a second or third language). Listen to motivational CDs regularly. Take personal and professional development courses. Attend conferences. Find your references. And practice. Invest in the most powerful asset you have: your mind.

The following is one of my favorite quotes: “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance”, Benjamin Franklin. The difference between who is just good and who is really great is not as great as it may seem, but it is what makes the difference.
